Which software version?

Hi Folks,

I purchased my Nuvi 660 about two months ago and it has the 2008 maps installed on it however, the unit software is version 4.10 SO, what version software is everyone else running AND, should I update the unit to version 4.20 of the software? What will I gain in the update to 4.20? What will I lose?

Thanks!

Clint

Check out Garmin's website

It has it listed (the changes) for your unit...

Cool! Thanks for the link but what do you think? Should I upgrade the unit or wait for the next upgrade cycle? I've read some folks are having problems with the touch sensitivity on the 4.20 upgrade?

Don't really want to give

Don't really want to give you an answer for the simple fact is that I don't have one and I haven't kept up with the updates for the 660. perhaps a 660 owner can shed some light.

Upgrade to 4.20

I have a Nuvi 680, basically the same as the 660. I have had the upgrade in since it came out and have no problems whatsoever. The sensitivity issue has not been a problem for me.

But what about the mp3

But what about the mp3 playback and alerts?

Sensitivity and mp3 alert problem are a pain with 660

Both are points of irritation for me. Wish I had never upgraded to 4.2, but I think you have to go back to 3.6 to get the greater screen sensitivity (according to the list of changes Garmin provides for each upgrade).

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

So far I'm not thrilled by

So far I'm not thrilled by what I'm reading about version 4.2 but I have an open mind so, we'll let this soak for a few more days!

Thanks!!

Garmin 660 version 4.2

I upgraded to 4.2 as soon as it was available. I have not experienced any difficulties.

Nuvi 660 upgrade

I have been running the upgrade since it came out without any problems, afterall this is Garmin not microsoft!

Sensitivity

You haven't experienced any decrease touch screen sensitivity? That seems to be one of the major complaints of the 4.20 update.
