Chatty Charley thread for the week of February 11th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Weather sounds like ours

It's time-release rain.

And we're due about 4" more of it today...with 20-40mph winds, gusting to 50; and temps falling to the single digits above zero resulting in dangerous wind-chills.

AlGORE! I want some of that global warming, and I want it NOW!!! smile

Your weather report sounds like ours in Chicago. How are your roads? With the many freeze/thaw cycles we have had, our roads are an absolute disaster.

Your pleas to Al Gore will not be answered. Ever since Al invented the Internet, he has been too busy to deal with anything else. grin

Sorry folks

Sorry folks - our temps down here in "SnowBird" country today will be almost cloudless, 82 degrees for the Daytona 500 (the track is 8 miles from my house) but ONLY 74 degrees here by the ocean.

Life's a Beach - but someone has to live here and
I volunteered !

I spent a week in Miami last

I spent a week in Miami last month. I couldn't wait to get back to some winter weather. Just like I don't want cold and snow all year, I also don't want heat all year. I love the variety we get here in Colorado. Yesteray was like a beautiful spring day... this morning we're being reminded it's still winter.

Get Garmin or Get Lost

You can miss having "seasons"

Funny how that is.... We live in Chicago, where temps routinely soar to 100+ in the summer and plummet to -10 in the winter. While unusual, we had temps ranging from +60 to -12 just in January.

My daughter went to college in Miami. She loved it, but said that she missed having seasons.

Great site here, when I learn how to I'll be making some Aussie poi's. I'm from Queensland. It's fine hot and windy here atm.

Welcome to this forum. Love your accent smile. Tried to find Australian English for my GPS voice, but only found American and British English in the Garmin file (nuvi 200). Do you have a GPS voice with your own accent?

The nuvi 3xx and higher have the australian accent.

Anyone else here ride a bike?

I recently (due to health reasons) have started to get into bicycling. I purchased a "decent" bike and now I am considering entering the 5 borough, 42 mile bike tour in NY in May!...(its a tour, not a race!). That gives me a couple of months to get in shape. The bike is a 21 speed comfort bike...relaxed riding position, ample saddle with suspension on the fork and seat... made by GIANT.

Anyone else here ride a bike?

My wife and I have Giants too. We live in North Central Illinois just a couple of miles from the Mississippi-Hennepin Canal Bike Trail which is part of the Grand Illinois Trail.

Seasons

We do have four seasons in Eastern Washington.

Hot, windy, cold, and DARK!

My sister in Southern California tells me that her four seasons are drought, flood, fire, and earthquake.
