Post your GPS names

I thought that it would be cool to see what names people have given their GPS units and maybe why you named it such.

I named mine Sophia. I did this because there is a dumb movie called "How to lose a guy in 10 days" and in it the girl names the guys penis "Princess Sophia" and I thought that by giving it that name you emasculate this man...well the traditional Joke about man is that he always feel emasculated about asking for directions and well I ask the GPS unit for directions all the time. You get the idea =)

Please share your stories and names.

GPS Names

I have always called mine Stephine. From about nine years ago when i used it in my Hertz Cars. Now I use the same name in my Nuvi and use the Australian Female voice. And yes she does have an Attitude when she is recalculating.

How about just plain GPS

How about just plain GPS

Mine's Sheila

I use the Karen voice and in Australia a woman is generally called Sheila. wink

We call it "the GPS", and

We call it "the GPS", and sometimes "the Nuvi".

I find her voice very business like.

I wish Garmin created a softer, sexier voice profile. It should not be any more difficult than creating any other voice profile. But I doubt Garmin will do it.

maggie?

.. just realized someone here owns a magellan..

i have a joking laugh at my friends who own one. it's a filipino thing.

friend- "dang it my gps can never get me to my destination"
me- "what do you have?"
friend- "a megallan"
me- "there's your answer! you're destined to not get to your destination!"

A pedestrian is someone who thought there were a couple of gallons left in the tank.

Emma

I have a 2720, and use the British female voice Emily, so it is called Emily. Well, I just got a new 855 and use the same voice - but thought I needed a different name to keep them separate - since Emily is used, this one is Emma.

looking for good ideas

On this website looking for some clever names, and found quite a few! Thanks to you all. Wanted to comment on "Garminator", because my son always imitates his grandpa's garmin in a Schwarzenegger voice. It is hilarious! "Turn around. Now! Head to the choppah! What are you doing?! I said left!" It's much more entertaining than "recalculating."

LA. Times interview

Hi there...I'm a Washington reporter with the L.A. Times, writing about the relationships people have with their GPS devices. Came upon your comments and wonder, would you care to be interviewed by phone? It's a light kind of story, man and his machine sort of thing. If so, please contact me at my email address: faye.fiore@latimes.com
Many thanks...

Ever since my iQue3600

My GPSs have been called Betty, from the pilot's slang "Bitchin Betty" who's voice warned them to pull up, etc. Anyone that's had the pleaseure of "off route, recalculating" can understand the sentiment. Actually, almost everyone who hung out in the Garmin forum of the board I used then call their Garmin the same name.

Gabby!

All the the time, talking, re-calculating, etc, etc! Gabby, that fits her perfectly!

Regards,

Norm

Called mine Segolene

After the near-miss candidate for French presidency... It was amazing all the stupid things she was allowed to blurt out in front of people and cameras ! And yes, that was before I'd put my device on mute... I guess I could change the nickname to Marceau. Not the actress, the mime !
