UPDATE? (nuvi 260 + 2.4.0)

I have a nuvi 260 and I believe I have 2.40 software. When I run web updater it says I have current software. I understand that I am 2 updates behind. How do I catch up? Thanks for all the great help!

Software Update

I also have a Nuvi 260 and was having the same issue. I opened a support ticket with Garmin. I explained that I had GPS Software version 2.40m and the WebUpdater said I was up to date. So they sent me an update via email. However, it didn't update the GPS Software. I still had version 2.40m. But it did update the Voice Version from 1.40 to 1.90. Then I ran the WebUpdater again and it said there was a software update. I installed the update and the only thing that changed is that the Voice Version went from 1.90 back to 1.40. I opened a new support ticket a few minutes ago about the Voice Version issue.

I think the key to getting the 2.60m version is to install the "GPS Chipset Type M" update. When I installed this update the unit showed 2.60m.

I now have:
Software Version 3.60
Audio Version 1.40
GPS SW Version 2.60m

To find out what you have:

tap WRENCH, bottom of screen
tap SETTINGS
tap SYSTEM
tap ABOUT, bottom of screen

Your versions will be listed.

Someone will be able to solve this.

Post back here what version of WebUpdater you are using.
Do you have Windows.. a Mac..??
Do you somehow block cookies..??

If you haven't done it already...

Download and install Garmin's Web Updater utility. Then connect your GPS to the computer and run the Updater. When the list of possible updates comes up, check the top item on the list. That should be the 2.60m update. Don't worry about any messages that you get, just download the file to your unit. Shut down the computer connection and disconnect your GPS. Start the GPS normally, and you should get the screen which asks if you want to install the update... say yes. When it's finished you should find 2.60m on your version screen.

The Audio Version is reflective of the Voice that you have selected. Different numbers will be shown depending upon which one you have selected. For example, Jill has a different number than Jack which has a different number than Karen. There were updates in the past week or so for the voice versions as well.

You can download and run the firmware update directly.

Go here and select the version you want. (Be sure you select one for the correct unit.) Download it to your computer. Connect your GPS unit to your computer via the USB cable and run the update.

Which One?

How do you know which one to select?
There are several versions for each device?

As with any other version, you choose the latest and greatest for your particular model. That usually means the highest rev. number. smile

The latest versions for the nüvi 2xx should be:

The latest versions for the nüvi 2xx should be:

Software Version 3.60
Audio Version 2.30
GPS SW Version 3.00s

I don't think you can install 3.00s until you install 3.60.

Plus..

The latest chip update for the MTK chipset is 2.60m. That does not appear to be available from that site... you have to get it with the Garmin Web Updater.

Yes, download the latest version of the firmware (highest number) (if that's what you want), and you should have no problems skipping versions.

Latest Version ???

I just used WebUpdater about a week ago and it upgraded my 200W to Software version 2.90.
Are you telling me it's now up to 3.60 in only a week?

Because of the different

Because of the different screen, I believe the wide-screen "W" models will not have the same firmware as the standard models. So your 200W would not necessarily be on the same firmware revision as a Nuvi 200.

Yes, be sure you are selecting the PROPER firmware version for your unit. They are not interchangeable.

Where?

Where did you get the Audio version 2.30 and GPS SW Version 3.00s? I can only find 1.90 and 2.60m.

The audio version is reflective of the voice that is selected.

The GPS SW update will show up in WebUpdater as an extra if it is available for your unit.

2xx still not on updates and downloads page

I see that Garmin has still not restored the 2xx to the updates and downloads page!!!!!

It's been missing for over 4 months now!!!!

I have contacted customer and tech support a half dozen times but they don't seem interested in resolving this issue. How are people who can't install WebUpdater supposed to update their units?

Is there a way to get the manual update files for the 2xx? I'd like to get 3.4 and 3.5. How else can we restore a previous version if the new version has problems?

Is version 2.9 the last stable version (no missing POIs) before they removed the map scale?
