C340 not charging?

My Streetpilot C340 GPS is one month old. Today I used it for few hours without connected to charging device. Now it won't charge. Screen has no power even if I switch it on. I tried charging through USB and car lighter charger. But no success. Does anybody have any idea.

I have a c340 and had no problem using the battery and not being able to start back up.Is it possible you may need to do a re-set since you can not see the screen?Pull off the face plate.Groove located under Garmin and hit the reset button.Page 31 in the owners manual.Only a guess but worth trying. Also would check the fuse in the car power charger. If you ran the battery all the way down you may have to hook it back to the computer using the usb and let it charge for a while and hope it comes back.

USB

The "rumor" around is: after running the battery all the way down, the only way to charge it back is to hook the unit to an USB port from your PC but it may takes couple hours to see any signs of life... better leave it overnight.

Thank you. Reset worked.

Thank you. This is a great site. Re-setting the unit worked. I am so happy. Charging by USB port could not work, because the unit had no life and when I was putting USB connection, it did not read anything. Manual says for charging by USB, put USB wires and switch on the unit. But how can I switch on the unit, if it is drained out and has no life.
Anyway, resetting worked.

USB Power

I think you mis-understand the situation.

Your unit actually WAS charging while it was plugged in, it's just that you could not tell that because it would not COME ON after being fully discharged.
Re-read the message that gave you the "fix".

Power is present on the USB connector all the time.
A USB port is "smart" but not when it comes to power.

Takes longer to charge via computer USB

Your computer's USB port limits the power output per the USB specs. The wall or car charger does not have this limitation. So usually, it will take a lot longer to charge your device via a computer connection vs the wall or car charger. But it will charge if left connected long enough.

kky29.I just signed back on

kky29.I just signed back on and was wondering how the problem came out.Glad you got it going now.

Like ka1167 stated the unit will charge once you hooked it to the computer with the usb cable.Does not have to be in the on position.I hooked mine to my computer and don't turn the unit on.I just let it charge while I use the computer.

Try a real charger

In fact, sometimes USB ports don't charge as they should. Try it with a plug-in charger smile

Good point.I only have the
