NUVI 660 Carpower plug without the suction mount?

Does anyone know of a connector that can be used to plug the carpower directly into the back of the 660 without using the suction mount? What if I don't want to use the suction cup but I want to use the fm traffic/carpower? I find this odd....

660 Carpower

I have the same issue - I decided to buy a separate car charger for the Garmin which works just fine - although I no longer have the FM traffic feature.

You need the Stock Garmin adapter....

The Fm traffic feature is built into the Stock Garmin 660/670/680 power adapter.. You would have to purchase this adapter from Garmin if you want to retain the traffic feature....

I would like to do the same.

I would like to do the same. I would think that a cell phone charger that uses the same mini-usb connection would work. However, I could be wrong (and most likely am).

660 Power

Hi, everyone,

I agree that a 12VDC USB cell phone charger should do the trick, provided that the output in volts (5VDC) is correct, and amps (1.0A) is sufficient. The 100-240VAC wall charger that comes with the 660 (model ADP-5FH B) has a rated output of 5VDC @ 1.0A.

At this price, is it worth it?

why not just pop the piece that the cord plugs into off the suction cup mounts arm? it's just a ball and socket and pops off fairly easy. then you keep the traffic and don't need the mount.

I'd like to share my way of mounting solution.

As you can see on a pictures i have modified Garmin's mounting for Nuvi 750 and i believe it could be done for any GPS, Thinkpad etc.

Now that is cool.

There are no adapters I know of.

The DC power supply for the Garmin 3xx series works on the 6xx and 7xx series - plugs into the usb port. I find that other power supplies, while they may charge the unit, do not permit the Garmin units to actively work.
