Not yet, is that something that others would be interested on working on and putting in the open project area. Let me know and JM can make a database for you.

Great Idea

Who couldn't use the location of all Dunkin Donuts?

Dunkin Donuts

I've noticed that this is one of the chain stores that has been adding alot of locations in the past several years. I have one close to me that was added about 8 years ago that has not made it to the Garmin database yet. (It's probably a good thing that I don't know where they all are or I'd be stopping at them more often and would forget about my New Year's resolution...smile

While I would love this POI

While I would love this POI file, my wife surely would not, they built one about 6 months ago 2 miles from my front door, and after I drop my daughter at school each morning it's Dunkies for a cup of Joe and a Coffee Roll!!!

Dunkin Poi

I started to assemble a small list. (there are SO Many in my area!) I'll see what I can put together. We have been going out for mid day coffee runs at work. (bad habit to break!)

Good idea

A least you would know where all the cops are....

Dunkin Donuts

There's a poi over on gpspassion.com covering 190 stores in the New Hampshire and Mass. area.

Emergency Brake? What Emergency Brake?

Didn't want to say!

Yeah I downloaded the same file. I think here where I live the closes DD is like 30-40 miles away. Krispy Kremes are real popular here though.

Dunkin Donuts

There is a free download for Baskin Robins and Dunkin Donuts that is updated every once in awhile on the TomTom home page (www.tomtom.com). It is in the TomTom format. I have tried to pull it up and can't seem to edit it in POI Edit. I am sure there is a simple work around, but I don't know what it is.

iGO explorer

I use the Tomtom files for my Mio and convert them via iGO POI explorer program. I tried to download that DD file from Tomtom's site, and even though I can download it the zip file comes across corrupt. I downloaded others from them that work fine so I'm sure it's their zip file. Do you have a copy I can get my hands on? I'd try to convert it for Garmin use and post it back here if I can.

Where's the files!

Do I have to become a member on TomTom's web site to see there POI files. Hmm.

No but don't waste your time. I downloaded all the PIO files there and most have problems or are corrupt. They're placed there in OV2 format, which can be imported into iGO POI Explorer software, but each one I tried had different issues with them. To find their POI files, you go to:

Thanks!

Okay i'll download a few and convert them with another program I like to use.

Hmm...I wonder if TomTom knows these files are bad!

TomTom files

I have discovered that the POI's on the TomTom site are encrypted. They work fine on the TomTom, but I can't get them to "convert" to other formats.

That Stinks!

Well isn't that nice of TomTom to encrypted the files. I guess the Tom Tom people are lucky there are sites like this that openly share there POI's.

I guess I will cancel my membership at there site!

Don't you think it would be

Don't you think it would be in the best interst of Dunkin Donuts and other companies to create and distribute this data now that personal navis are very popular? Anyone want to finance a startup firm to offer this service?

Our dream...

We secretly hope that some day Poi Factory will be so big and popular that companies will contact us when they have a new store location so that they are represented here.

We have big ambitions here for this community.

Any Luck Finding One?

Has anyone had any luck finding a US Dunkin Donuts POI or converting the TomTom file to csv?

Re: DD POI's

I also tried to convert the DD file from the unofficial TomTom Forum site with no luck, however, I was able to download and convert from the same site the Pizza Hut, KFC and Bubba Gump files from .ov2 to .csv with no problems what-so-ever!

This leads me to believe that: A) not all files are corrupt, and B) the Dunkin Donuts file seems to have a problem.

There is a DD file on gpspassion.com, but I don't think it covers the entire US. Why not make this a POI Factory Summer Project?

Miss Poi, you are absolutely and positively 110% correct on both accounts!!! smile

Ooooops!!! I should've worded my suggestion a little more carefully! sad

I think the Factory can come up with its own DD file of the HOLE US of A - pun intended! wink

Dunkin Donuts

I am currently working on a .gpx version of this list, complete with Zip and Bluetooth enabled dialling. I have 102 locations done now with about 800 to go. It shouldn't take too long to go through the rest but I will be on vacation at the end of this week for a couple. I'm going to test out my Nuvi on a cross country drive.

Enjoy the trip

Let us know how you make out on your return.

And don't worry, the donuts will be there when you get back! smile

Dunkin Donuts

I have all the Dunkin Donuts shops you could ever ask for. If you would like the file, just post your e-mail and what format you would like.

Dunkin Donuts

Love DD coffee. Would it possible for you to add them through the site's upload feature?

Dear JoeMedic,
You're the best! I just switched from a TomTom (nothing but trouble, but at least it was easy to get the DD list!) to a Garmin Nuvi 660. I would love your list in .cvs format.

No corruption here

Mike L. wrote:

ML

I've learned that the Dunkin Donuts POI listed on the TomTom site is NOT CORRUPT - it is a protected file. This means that you can download the file from the site and load it directly to your TomTom product, but you can't open it using software like PoiEdit 2007 to alter or edit the file.

I have Dunkin Donuts for all US

I noticed a note on this site not to upload any POI from another site. I got one free and used a certain site that converted it over to Garmin format. It seems to have all Dunkin Donuts throughout the country. Don't remember the site and not sure how I can give it to others.

Dunkin Donuts POI

I just posted a Dunkin Donuts .gpx file to the site. There are 953 locations in it. Enjoy.

Come On DD, give us a complete file

Counterforce wrote:

I have a Dunkin Donuts CSV that contains 895 points. This file is only 32 KB.

The Dunkin Donuts GPX file is 830 KB, but only has about 60 more points. I guess the difference is the address and phone info that isn't in the CSV.

My problem with both of these files is their incompleteness. I live just south of Washington DC and have several DDs within 20 miles of me.

The CSV doesn't list any of the local ones, but shows 2 dozen within 100 miles of me.

The GPX doesn't have any DDs within 150 miles of me, the closest being up in Pennsylvania.

I think we should start an eMail campaign to various corporations to get them to start posting up-to-date POIs on their websites. Sheetz has taken the lead and has shown they understand the benefit and popularity of GPSrs.

In my opinion, it is irresponsible and bad business practice for a corp not to offer these files. If I were a stockholder, I'd be screaming!

A NEW Project

Not being satisfied with the DD POI info that I've found I started compiling my own data. If anyone wants to do their area, or has data they'd like to share with the community then let me know so ALL info can be combined into one accurate Dunkin Donut POI.

Helping with DD database

I'd like to help but I've never made POIs before. I will try to learn. This is a list I'd love to have, not just for the coffee but for the 24/7 bathrooms. I hate to have to pee in a dirty gas station or somewhere else where it's harder to become a "customer" using the facilities.

Looking for a 2007 Motel 6 directory CSV file

Try this

Lorraine, at the top of this page under the FAQ heading you'll find a 'How To' on creating POI's. If you have any questions after reading the FAQ just ask - and remember, there are no dumb questions! wink

Convert TomTom Formats

I found this site to convert OV2 formats to CSV format

Give it a try - Good Luck

Ron

http://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/poi/ov2-to-csv.php

Be very careful

You'd better tread cautiously with the .ov2 file as it is proprietary to TomTom and Dunkin Donuts!

You WILL NOT be able to upload it to this site to share should you be able to convert it into .csv format for legal reasons!
