I received today my FREE City Navigator Map Source DVD and have a question for those familiar with the program.
After installing and registering the copy I connected my Nuvi260 and downloaded waypoints from the GPSr to my PC, the only thing that came over was the waypoints in my Favorites and nothing from the Extra, is that how it is supposed to work or should I be able to see in the PC map the points inside my csv files that are loaded in the unit?
.
Yes, that's how it works. Only the Waypoints/Favorites get transferred.
If you want to see your Custom POIs in MapSource, you can convert the CSV files to GPX files and then open them directly in MapSource.
bummer
Thanks for the info, I had already found the answer by googling it.
Now let me ask, if I convert to GPX do I have to convert back to csv to load in the GPSr or POI loader can handle those files?

POI Loader recognizes GPX files
POI Loader recognizes GPX files and will load them into your Custom POI category instead of Favorites.
POIs can be favorites too
You can also load your POIs as favorites by loading them directly from MapSource. I haven't done it yet, but its pretty straight forward.

Do you, by any chance, have a Map Update DVD? If not, some people have evidently been successful requesting a copy from Garmin, usually by phone.

No I did not get one in the box. Was one supposed to be in it? What number should I call? Thanks.

Map Source DVD
I got my Map Source DVD from Garmin today by UPS - called last Tuesday so it took just less than a week. No charge, but I think you need to call to get it free. E-mailed their Customer Service about getting one and got a quick reply - yes but it costs $15 plus $6 shipping. Tell them that you would like it to generate Favorites, Routes (if your unit supports them) and such stuff and that you would also like to be able to view the maps on a larger monitor for detail. Should be able to get one.

Mine was free...
... by emailing support. All I did was email a query asking how I went about getting a MapSource DVD for managing waypoints and planning trips for my nuvi 260. A week later I got a response saying that the DVD was in the mail. They had all my mailing data from registering the unit, so I didn't even have to supply that to them. It was surprisingly efficient, but the reputation for great support was one of the things that steered me to Garmin in the first place.

Mine was also free. Took 2 weeks and requested by phone. First tried email but was told would have to purchase it.
I recieved my Map Source CD
I recieved my Map Source CD 3 days ago. Very fast service, but I did pay $21 with a phone order.
Very nice program. Unlike EasyGPS, it doesn't drop addresses if I edit a saved waypoint.
FWIW, I have a new c550 (and love it!)
