David, the POI Factory email is merely form data that ties in to your email address from the database. So, if your AOL email isn't working, it'll bounce the email back.

Thank you, CGY. I appreciate the thought. However, as I have never had any problem receiving email from our wonderful patronne (Miss POI), I believe the problem must lie elsewhere. I have also received internal email from other friends here at POI through the Factory's email system.

It was not something I particularly planned. I received my GARMIN unit in December and from their website found The Factory. I happened to be buying Hess petrol at the time and asked here (at the beginning of this very thread in fact) whether there were a file for those stations. There was not but was encouraged by Miss POI to start one and I did. It became a kind of game to look at Google Earth and work out where the distinctive green marking was and where to place the pointer to accommodate multiple entrances. I suppose the fact that it is the sort of business that one can identify from a satellite image was part of the allure.

Perhaps some other POI concept might catch my fancy but I am not sure what it might be. I am rather fond of finding places where I can buy food that does not contain wheat or dairy as I am allergic to gluten and casein; a friend is taking me out to dinner later at Outback, where one can ask for their gluten-free menu. However, that would seem to more of a suggestion for a directory of such places rather than one database.

What moves you to make/maintain a particular POI?
