Hey P38nut. I live just NE of Austin. 6th Street (W of IH 35) has many restaurants, bars, live music etc. Zilker Park is kind of nice too. Mount Bonnell is the highest point in Austin and offers a great view of Lake Austin and the city. If you're hungry for BBQ, Rudy's is a good choice. Enjoy your visit.

Thanks.

Thank you. I'll be certian to check those parks out. I'll be there in early February and hope to see some good weather while there. Usually when work sends me there it's 2 weeks of work/training from dawn to dusk with no time for anything, but this time I'll have several hours per day and I'm looking forward the potential to see more of Austin besides the pillow in my hotel room. wink

It should show you the real name, the address, the coordinates, reviews, etc.

.

Do a search for "Congress Bridge, Austin, TX"

They are Mexican free-tailed bats.

congress ave bridge

-97.745133,30.261787 will put you near the center of the bridge. Get there early to find a place to park, then walk onto the bridge...Unless you prefer a spot below the bridge...watch out for the falling guano.
I'm not so sure on bat activity in Feb though. In the summer, both sides of the bridge are packed elbow to elbow.

Enjoy your trip.

Duh, should have checked the date of the post.

Hope you had a good trip
