c340 - "recalculating...turn...???"

Hi everybody.
Got a Garmin c340 for Christmas - my first GPS. Found this forum a few days ago. Good stuff. Nice bunch of folks here!
Lots of info here, but I don't see this one:
When I make a turn that's not on the calculated route, my c340 says (for example), "Recalculating... drive .2 miles and turn ____". It doesn't say which way to turn!
When I get to the actual turn, it says "Turn right" or "Turn Left" but doesn't tell me which way when it first recalculates. I would say it happens 4 out of 5 times.
Is this normal? I'm kind of worried about wide, busy intersections where I would need a heads up before I have to turn. Thanx for your time and thanx to poi-factory for this forum!

You need to select a TTS voice language. Go to Wrench->Language->Voice Language->

If you press the lower right conner of the screen where it says turn in, it should give you a little more detail about your next step.

Normal behavior like MM said. Just remember to use common sense. Just because the gps tells you to turn, if you feel that its dangerous or you didn't have enough time to get in the correct lane, go to the next intersection. The gps will adjust and get you back on track. Safety first.

Thanx, mariner. I've tried both Jill and Emily to see if it made a difference. Same thing both voices.
