Separate POI Files

I use POI Loader to put the POIs on my 660 and it seems it generates one large file, which activated by checking Custom POIs. Is there any way to put the POIs on so that they are separate files, red light speed, stores, etc?. And if so could they then be checked on or off?
Thanks,
Bob
Well, DUH!
My forehead hurts from slapping it!
Now that you say that it seems obvious and I wish I hadn't asked the question.
Thanx!

Very Good Info
Thank you Motorcycle Mama for those details. That makes it much easier to scroll through the POIs.
POI Subcategories
You can't have more than one level of subfolders. But the files themselves will create the subcategories.
Here's my example.
Thank you!

POI categories
I have found 3rd party software for the Mac that allows you to load multiple POI files on a Garmin and have more control over the subfolders. However, approaching one of these POIs would result in partially crashing my nuvi 650 -- the map would go blank, but routing (voice announcements) would continue to work. The only way to recover is to delete the POIs. Maybe I'm overlooking something, but I recommend sticking with POI Loader, even though it limits subcategories.
work on 750
I tried this on my new 750 and I can't find the POI's on the GPS at all. It says they were transferred but I don't find them.

To Combine Or Not Combine POI Files?
I’m new here – and would like some advice. Aside from alerts and TourGuides, I consider POIs to be either a way to list things that aren’t part of Garmin’s map and POIs, or a way to categorize them.
In my case when I travel with my son he likes to eat at fast seafood places. Restaurants like Long John Silver's, Captain D’s, Red Lobster, and Arthur Treachers are all places he’d eat at. I can download these cvs files and icons and load them to my gps, or I could combine them into one big POI file for “Fast Fish” and create an icon just for this.
It seems like there are pluses and minuses to combining or not combining files. What do you suggest I do? Thanks for your input.

Categories for your custom pois
I prefer to down load them one at a time and put them in a subfolder. For example under food I have Arbys,McDonald's,Cracker Barrel,Burger King,Firehouse Subs,Sonny's,Golden Corral and Sweet Tomatoes. When traveling I just touch food and then all categories. That way all of them show at one time base on the closest.I can then select from several different food locations close to me at the time.
When you download them they really do go to one big gpi file on your unit.
