Garmin eTrex Vista & Nuvi 265wt - Map Issue?

Hey everyone,

First post at POI Factory, but I'm hoping someone can help me out regarding multiple maps on my Vista HCx.

I have 2 issues, both regarding the same problem, but one needs to happen before the other.

-Multiple maps: I have City Navigator 2010.40 and Topo Canada loaded onto the SD card in the eTrex (named gmapsupp.img and gmapsup2.img), but I can only see the City Navigator files? First question is, should i be seeing both, or do I have to disable one to see the other?

Secondly, am I loading both map sets correctly, or is there a better way to load 2 completely different maps?

Thanks for your help!

A basic problem

The problem is, you can only have one gmapsupp.img that is accessed by the device at any one time. Move one or the other to a second card, and switch cards as required. After the transfer, rename the gmapsup2.img to gmapsupp.img on the other card, and it will work for you.

Thanks Juggernaut I read

Thanks Juggernaut

I read that you can combine and/or split image files, but I don't know if you can do that with different map sets (IE: City Nav and Topo). I really want to avoid having to swap cards if at all possible.

Based on the answer above, if I were to get them in to the same file, would they both display, or would I have to disable one to see the other?

.

In MapSource, you can select map tiles/segments from different map PRODUCTS (ie City Navigator and TOPO) and send them to the GPS unit as one MAPSET.

However, you will still need to deselect the City Navigator maps on the unit in order to see the TOPO maps. The City Navigator maps have priority.

But they can both be on there at the same time.

Awesome, thanks for your
