Looking for a good way to hook up to my car stereo

I just got my 650 and I'm really diggin it but I want to hook it up to my car stereo so I can have it broadcast through the car speakers rather than the Nuvi speakers. I've tried the FM transmitter thing with other products and I'm not going to even try that route.

I have a Honda that has a CD player but not a cassette player so I can't use one of those inexpesive cassette inserts. I've seen a hookup that allows you to hook it up through the external CD hookup but the cheapest I've seen is around $70 and I'm trying to keep the solution under $20.

Any suggestions????

.

If you can't use a cassette adapter and don't want to use an FM transmitter, I don't think you are going to find a solution under $20.

A PIE adapter is the next solution. And that's going to run around $70 - $100. Or you could replace your car stereo with one that has an AUX input.

My Honda has a Aux audio input

My Honda has a Aux audio input that I hook my MP3 player to. Does yours have that?

FM transmitter

For my HAM radio I use a small FM transmitter from La Source (ex-Radio-Shack) I bought for about 25$. Connect it to the aux jack, work fine for the last three years and I got the output of the HAM radio on the car stereo. You could use the same set-up for the GPS ....

Digital FM is best

The new Digital FM transmitters are much better than the old ones that had to be hand tuned to a blank station., I bought a Belkin for about 7 bucks from Buy.com It works pretty good. I like the MP3 and also hearing that sweet voice telling me where to go in stereo.... cool

Yeah, but what about when

Yeah, but what about when you aren't listening to music, doesn't that background hissing noise get on your nerves?

My stereo has the same

My stereo has the same miniplug aux input so I just bought a $5 patch cord. The problem is that then I have to have the radio in aux mode to here the gps and can only listen to mp3's from the garmin. The mp3's play louder than the voice prompts so when the voice cuts in to give directions the volume is to low unless I have the radio turned up witch makes the mp3's to loud.

How about an FM Modulator then? (Around $20 - $30)

As opposed to an FM Transmitter, these usually hook up between the receiver's antenna plug and the antenna jack. Feeding directly to the receiver's FM antenna plug, they are much less prone to the interference and signal loss of quality of the transmitters.

Looks like my 650 has settings that allows for adjusting voice and mp3 volume separately. If your 350 has the same ability, just adjust volume for mp3's lower than the voice prompts.

My Honda has an auxilary

My Honda has an auxilary plug as well. With my 760, I went to the main screen, cover the battery level with my finger for about 5-8 seconds until the diagnostic screen came up. I then went to about the 4th or 5th page and changed Headphone to Line Out. It now works fine. I then went to Tools, Settings, Volume, and adjusted the volume.
