Three D Maps

I have been using the 2D map on my Magellan 2200T. I used to have a Roadmate 300 which had only 2D maps. The 2200T has 2D or 3D maps, but I don't really find the 3D map useful.

I saw a MIO unit a friend had, it was quite a bit more "pictorial" and useful looking.

I don't find the Magellan 2200T 3D maps to be useful.

Does anyone have any comments on 2D vs 3D maps on the oother units like Garmin and TomTom?

Do you find this feature useful?

Nope, I keep mine in 2D

Nope, I keep mine in 2D Track up.

for me, 3d arrows are too wide and big and keeps me from seeing as much around me

One thing I do like about Magellan is the split true view, where it automatically shows a pictorial of exits, maneuvers, etc. That is very nice.

Does Garmin Nuvi models have something like that, an automatic view of maneuvers?

Nope, at least the Nuvi 350 doesn't.

I heard that was nice to have. I wish that it did have that, although I heard that it doesn't work except in big cities.

I like the 3D view. It even surprised me when I didn't want to go back to the 2D view.

I love my GPS too, but I still look out the windows when I want to see things around me. wink
