Garmin 350 Memory Clean

I got the Garmin 350 last week & uploaded it w/ all updates (all cars) & a number of POI files. If I want to delete some of the useless stuff (i.e., cars, help files), how do I delete them?

Thanks in advance, Luke

It's easy and I'm assuming

It's easy and I'm assuming you have a Nüvi since you didn't specify. Plug it into your computer via USB and open it up like any other USB drive. You can go to the folders and delete what you want from there. Be careful not to delete something system related.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you first back the entire unit up to a folder on your desktop. To do this just "select all" (to get the hidden files), copy and then paste into your backup folder. This will take some time. It takes about 45 min to back up my 660.

You are pretty safe in

You are pretty safe in deleting the voices that you don't want to use, the cars, and the update file. Can't remember the name of the update file.....sorry. Too tired to search for it or go and look.lol.

From Garmin

Garmin indicated that language files can be deleted too to free up some 300 mb!!!! But didn't mention if the files can be retreived later... I think restore might do it... but maybe I should save the launage files before deleting...

Any comments?

.

It's probably/likely possible to restore the voice files through WebUpdater, but it's much more simple to just backup everything to your computer before you delete them, and then you will have instant access to them in case you need them.

Gosh YES!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to backup/copy the whole GPSr's contents before deleting anything. For no other reason, you may want that madisgascar voice (just kidding, there really isn't one) later on

Language File

I cleared out about 300 megs of language files & the missing language files are reflected on the web updater...therefore it is safe to delete the lanuage files.
