Sound any better on nuvi 350?

Has anyone had their sound get worse after installing the newest software upgrade for the nuvi 350, or am I the only one. Mine now sounds like the speaker is blown, lots of distortion in the sound. I've always had it at one notch below full volume to hear it, but now its so distorted, and if I turn it down 2 more notches, the distortion goes away, but I can't hear what its saying.

Bad sound with update

Most assuredly so.
Had fair sound to be begin with... then updated... now much static sound. The sound is so bad in fact... that I have some miniature speakers that I plug into it and use. They help a great deal.

One thing I would like for my Nuvi to do... is have the ability to turn off the screen when I want to only play tunes.
I know it can dim... but I have not found a way to complete turn off the screen.

In a way, I would like to have one of the new models that would have the ability to play through the radio as my truck has a great stereo system. But... whoop de doo... maybe next time.

Softer in Direction, Louder in POI !!!

My Nuvi350 sounds little softer while giving me directions but when it comes to proximity alarm in POIs, it becomes very louder. I wish the volume working same level in one setting!

sound problem

so it soulds like the only solution is to add speakers to the nüvi 350 to get it understandable, any suggestions for which speakers to get for convience and sound?

Speakers?

I tried adding speakers to my nuvi350 via the earphone connector, but the volume wasn't loud enough. I had an extra 'powered computer speaker set' laying around so used that ... much improved sound volume and quality. May be bulky for a car; I use it in a motorhome.

Get into www.radioshack.com and do a search for 40-1441.

I tried those, but they aren't any better then the nuvi's. If you turn it up, they distort horrible!

Don't know what to say, asianfire, they sound perfect on my 660... might be the software?

HUMMMMMMM

Surely there is something out there, sounds like asianfire has unsuccessfully tried them on his Nüvi 350, I have a cassette player in my truck, and using the cassette adapter that will plug into my nüvi, the sound is good, and you can make it loud enough, but then I can't listen to the radio, which is ok, but I have to drive my car to work, which doesn't have a cassette player, as I can't afford the gas to drive my truck farther than the end of the driveway.

Yeah, I have tried

Yeah, I have tried everything I have seen and it was either too much money (100+), not loud/clear enough, or too big.

I don't have a cassette player so I tried a FM transmitter, but then you got static when nothing was player (or giving directions) and that got on my nerves.

I wonder if....

One could plug the Garmin earphone into a set of wireless speakers? I don't have a set... but it might me nice since with some wireless speakers you can increase the volume.

Just a thought.

I wonder if....

Nice thought, I'll have to see if there is anything that would work, if the adapter wasn't too cumbersome to be on the nuvi, and wasn't too cost prohivitive, this might work, thanks for the suggestion

Poor Sound 350

I can't be sure if the following is related, but-----
Selecting Setting/System/About, I show and Audio Version of 1.40 with software
ver 5.00
GPS magzine, shows Audio Version 1.80
with Software 4.70( what gives here?)

Garmin told me to run an update.
I did and there is no change.

However my voice output is fine. Have they gone back to the old 140?

Audio Version 1.80?

I just tried that on my 350 and I've got software version 5.00 and Audio version 1.00. The audio sounds pretty good to me, granted it distorts a bit when the volume is at its maximum, but that's probably just because the speaker is tiny and crappy. Since I wasn't expecting to here "Turn left at..." in concert hall stereophonic sound, I figure it's fine.

Audio Version 1.80?

I just tried that on my 350 and I've got software version 5.00 and Audio version 1.30.
I wonder why all the different versions of audio software out there?
Does the audio software update with the unit software update, or is this just the audio software that was installed on the units at the factory?
How do you get the audio software to update, sounds like there are newer versions out there that might fix some of these issues.

I use something similar to this in my car http://www.frys.com/product/5730162?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT...
It works really well and is plenty loud and clear. I haven't used this exact model of speakers, but something very similar.
