Device not ready

Hi-
This is my first post for your forum. I have a nuvi 660 and can't get anything to load through the poi loader. Not even something as little as bridges. I have searched FAQS everywhere and am very confused is I have a defective unit. I can load MP3 to the card so the card is O.K. Any suggestions? Thank you!

work around

If you have a SD card reader, you might let POI Loader transfer to a SD card and then put the card in your nuvi.

Back to your original question -- to transfer directly to the GPS via USB cable, you'll need to make sure you have the device driver software installed on your PC. Then connect the nuvi to your with a USB cable. If that's not working, you may need a little help from Garmin (or someone with more nuvi experience than me).

Hi, I have a Nuvi and if

Hi, I have a Nuvi and if you're trying to add POI to your SD card while in the Nuvi it won't work. When loading POI with POI loader it will load it to your Nuvi only not the SD card in the Nuvi. To load POI on a SD Card, the only way that I know of is with the card loaded in a card reder not the Nuvi.

Thanks Guys

That was something I never would have thought of. I really appreciate your help!

If you have the drivers set

If you have the drivers set up correctly your computer should recognize the Nuvi as a separate removable disk and the SD card as a separate removal disk - they should show up im my computer. They should also be recognize by the poi loader - look at the drop down box - it will recognize the Nuvi first and then the SD card. When this is properly set up the poi loader will down load to the SD card. When you fire the Nuvi up it will ask you if you want to import the pois from the card to the Nuvi - you can say yes or no and they will still work.
Make sure your computer is recognizing the Nuvi and the SD card.
If this is not the case check your device manager - it will probably say that the device is not recognize - uninstall it - then rescan for new hardware.
