Does your GPSr sound disgusted when you miss a turn and it has to recalculate?

Mine sounds like:

(Disgusted sigh ... REcalculating) Emphasis on the Re.

Only with Jill

I noticed that a long time ago (and my wife confirmed it) when I was using "Jill". I switched to "Jack", and that seems to have solved the problem. One whiner at a time is about all I can take........

My wife and I noticed the same thing about the Jill audio especially when she starts re-calculating the route.Need to change to Jack and see how that goes.

Yeah I noticed it too. My

Yeah I noticed it too. My girlfriend thinks it's hilarious.

Tone of Voice

Now that you mention it...I too noticed the slight inflection in Jill's voice when she says "RE-calculating" but she still sounds hot with all her other verbal directions.

When driving with the wife though, she insists on turning the sound completely off so she can be the one to give me condesending driving advice and directions.

...Have yet to find my wife's volume control knob.

RE-calculating

I think you should be able to program it that after the 3rd or 4th time of recalculating it should really get upset with you......"If you don't like my directions, I will shut down and let you find it yourself"

LOL

Or, the next time you give it a destination it says, "Nope...you wouldn't listen to me last time. You know so much, you figure it out!"

Then I'll have to rename it "Mom"!

Too Funny

Or after the 3rd or 4th time you ignore Jill's directions a mechanical hand comes out of the GPSr and smacks you on the side of the head!smile)

My wife says the unit is mad

My wife says the unit is mad at me for not following Jill's directions. She also said jill has an attitude. I'm used to being told what to do so I guess it doesn't bother me that much.

humor

Some disgruntled programmer at Garmin should throw in a random 'you moron' after a recalculating message. Or how about Jack, Jill or Dominatrix?

Karen and Emily too

I've used both and felt they get disgusted if you don't do what they want.

While visiting my out of state sister, I plugged my 2720 in just to have something to mess with while we were traveling around visiting relatives. After a recalculating situation, my sister immediately commented that Karen was clearly upset with her.

I normally work with Emily, and she cops an attitude also.

I haven't noticed. Been with someone with a lot worse attitude for far too long.

Jill is a sweet angel by comparison. LOL!

Recalculating

I get a kick out of Aussie Karen who also gets quite frustrated. I changed it so that she says "Damn you Ralph" It really is funny when she has to recalculate twice in a row.

Voice Tones

I never noticed this before, but you can bet I'll be paying particular attention tomorrow.

How did you do that?

How did you get her to say that?

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before.

TTS file manipulation

Be careful with this, as Garmin does not support your screwing with their voice files.

1) First Get a working copy of the file that you want to edit. From the
Garmin\Voice folder of your GPS unit.

2) Get a Hex editor. Here is a freeware one that works fine:
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.h...

3) Open the voice file in the Hex editor. You will see that the TTS files
are Extremely large. So you will want to go to Search - Find, then type in
The Word(s) that you want to edit. Keep in mind that you will be limited
to the same number of characters that you wish to replace. (i.e. I
replaced "recalculatng" with "dam you ralph". Notice that the unnecessary
n of damn was dropped, and spaces were put in, so both things have 13 characters)
This gives you a little leeway.
The longer the words or sayings that you want to replace, the more leeway
you have.
If you accidentally change characters that you didn't want to, you can close the
Hex Editor and say NO when prompted to save changes, Then start over.

4) Save the file. Put it back in your unit and enjoy your creaton.(Be sure to
always keep a copy of the original untouched file!!!).

Modifying TTS Files

I have had complete instructions on modifying Garmin's TTS voice files at PoiVerifier.com for several weeks. Just use the Modifying TTS Files link in the left window.

I use Emily, and I love the quiet frustration and irritation that she uses in "Recalculating." Subtle and effective. At least she doesn't swear at me.

TTS file manipulation

Thanx Ralphy1 it but it looks like RT's route may be the easier.
