Voices (English_Indian voice file)

I've been having quite a bit of fun with the voice files. I've made an English_Indian voice file that works great, but I can only use it as a replacement to the English_American voice. Renaming the file has no impact on what the unit sees, and you cannot change from one voice to another with the same voice name even though they are both listed. Haven't had any luck with the TTS voices though. I also made one that says "Ralph, You never listen to me" instead of "recalculating". Anyone else doing anything with the voices?

How did you do that? I would love to hear my directions in an Indian voice.

I played with the TTS voice files a little today with limited success. As long as the new command has the same number of characters (i.e. the starting and ending location do not change), then I could modify the voice commands and directions.

We may be able to fix you up, IF your computer shows your GPS as a hard drive and you're content with using 'English_American_.vpm' instead of Jack or Jill.

Updated: I got the 'English_American_.vpm' done for you. Where should I send it?

RetiredTechnician,

THANKS ! I just opened up my email and saw the file.

I can hardly wait to load it on the 2730 and have my wife get a big surprise.

I'm going to have to try to do some of these myself too when I get some spare time ( which I seem to never have ).

But thank you again for doing this for me.

I appreciate it.

Regards, Tim

Indian English Voice file.

I sent the file to Garmin to see about having it show up on the unit as Indian English, but haven't heard back from them. You will have to replace your English_American voice file with this one then try it out, When you get tired of it, replace it with the old English_American and you'll be back to the standard. I don't see anyway to post it. (I tried & Miss Poi yelled at me because the file isn't a .csv or .gpx file) So I will need to Email to you.

Re. TTS voice files using Hex Editor
I thought that would be the case but didn't try it. Thanks for the info.

Ya right

When I'm driving my Garmin is telling me one way to get there and my wife is telling me another. Us guys know that my wife is always right, "you're right honey" (ya right) and then she complains that it keeps saying recalculating. It would be great to have the "Dammit, if you listened to me the first time around, I wouldn't have to keep saying recalculating!" On the other hand maybe it should say "honey your know your right:). Appreciate anything you can do to help:))

Thanks,
Monte
