Just a comment or two

I think the COW should be moved around ... not repeat last weeks.

Miss POI, would it be feasible to have a 'Rookie COW', just for newbies? Racing has its Rookie recognition, football has it Rookie recognition, maybe that would work here. I don't know what member length would work ... maybe a month or less? Ideas??

I like Summermug idea for the fact that it will inspire people to be more active to get new Badges.

RT has a good idea, however if Miss Poi created the Cow Award. Let's just say I wouldn't mess with a women’s creation lol.

Disagree

I totally disagree; hence, my signature "It is quality rather than quantity that matters."

How about we donate the COW award to

The men and women of the armed forces that are giving up so much so that this land remains free and we have the abilty to have this open forum AND use our GPS's with the assistance of the military satellites. These folks never get enough credit IMHO.

We don't use military

We don't use military satellites hence the performance being as close as possible.

Not to ever knock the U.S. Military, but the tax payers money went into those satellites. Didn't they?

Only one set of satellites

bandaid wrote:

There's only one set of satellites (24 of them) for GPS. Each satellite transmit two different signals. The Coarse / Acquisition (C/A) code, which is freely available to the public, and the Precise (P) code, usually encrypted and reserved for military applications.

They also used to implement what is called Selective Availability (SA) that introduced intentional, slowly changing random errors of up to a hundred meters (328 ft) into the publicly available navigation signals for civilian equipments.

They're currently working on a 2nd generation system.

Right now the only

Right now the only programing that is happening behind the scenes is the new system that will totally change the way POI Factory runs. You guys are going to be blown away when we roll it out. Jon keeps showing me little snippets of what he is working on and it is blowing my mind. You guys haven't seen anything yet.

Once we get the new system up and running smoothly we will have a chance to look at all the fun stuff that has been suggested.

Miss Poi

Cool!

Cool!

Charley - Nuvi 350 - Bel STI Driver - Cobra 29 w/ wilson 1000 - AIM: asianfire -

New Programming?

While I am sure the new system will blow all of us away, the real key is/ has been the contributions of many. Keep up the great work...

that may be true

However,

As a retired military person of the US Air Force, I paid my share of income tax for the 20+ years I spent on active duty. I also pay income tax on my retirement.

That always got me, I'm paying myself, by paying income taxes. If the service men and women didn't pay income taxes, everyone else would be paying a lot more.

I do like the oak leaf cluster idea, perhaps that way, one could "keep" their COW, and Hon Men awards. The wind mill would still signify an active user.
