DO NOT UPGRADE! (nuvi 350 version 4.90)

I just finished updating the system software on my nuvi 350, using Garmin WebUpdater 2.0.1, to version 4.90 from 4.60.

After updating, WebUpdater 2.0.1 is no longer able to find the nuvi which is connected. The error message is "No devices were found. Please ensure that your device is connected and turned on and try again."

My 350 seems to work ok, just can no longer be accessed by Garmin WebUpdater.

I contacted Garmin support and was told they were aware of the problem and were working on it. (Not really sure why they are allowing the upgrade if they are aware of the problem.)

I told the tech support guy I would post a message here on POI Factory warning others not to update their software until Garmin fixes the problem. So you have been forewarned . . . . DON'T DO IT!

Since it turns out this was not just a Mac issue, I'm moving this topic to the Garmin Talk forum and adjusting the title.

I'm also reviewing the settings/options for editing post.

GARMIN 350 UPDATE AVAIL

Hello peeps,

I'm so glad that GARMIN quickly posted a fix 5.0 for this major issue with the unit not recognizing the webupdater (come on folks, that is not major and everyone makes mistakes) as long as they fix them. How often are updates available anyways;)

Relax and chill out a little (yeah, I know us geeks sometimes get spun up over inperfections in our toys:))))

anywho, the update is available at Garmin's site now.... run forest run.

Down graded to 4.6

Just upgraded today and now downgraded to 4.6 and saved a file on my PC just in case. Thanks for the link Tick Man.
