Bob's Big Boy POI file

Not sure if this is the place to put this info, but the following restaurants on the Bob's Big Boy POI file are "closed":

Grand Haven, MI
Las Vegas, NV (closed temporarily)
North Las Vegas, NV (closed temporarily)
Manistee, MI
Paw Paw, MI
Whitmore Lake, MI

Curious...

How did you find this info?
I extracted all 164 sites from their own web page.

Bob's Big Boy Locations

Web page wasn't updated... and this doesn't include the Frisch's Big Boys (separate franchise of Big Boy only in parts of Ohio & Kentucky), or the international units.

BTW, Big Boy is planning to ramp of construction of new restaurants throughout the country with two new prototype designs. I manage construction for BB - and the website will get updated.

Bob's Big Boy POI file

I ate at the one in Baker, CA last summer. Iwish we had a Big Boy here in the Dallas area.

Not doing anything worth a darn.

Speaking of new construction...

Any plans to open a few in the Denver metro or Front Range area of Colorado?

dd

P.S. I'll update the .csv file with those changes. I also noted on the POI page that Frisch's was another project for later. My clicking finger hurts from all the copy & paste work for the first 164 locations. :+)

TX Big Boy's

Most of the restaurants are franchised. I'm not aware of anything happening in the Dallas area, but we are talking to some folks from the Houston area. That might generate some interest from someone for Dallas.

The one in Baker, CA. used to be called "Bun Boy". Just within the past year or two, Bob's Big Boy bought it out. "Bun Boy" had been a landmark in Baker for years. Also associated with the giant thermometer outside the restaurant. It was very similar to a Bob's Big Boy though.

New Location

They are building a new Bob's on Hamner Ave/Sixth Street in Norco, CA. The sign is up at the construction site.

Eat at Joes.

New Bob's Big Boys

There are at least a dozen new Bob's coming to the L.A. and Bakersfield areas. Norco is just the first one with a construction sign...

Mmmmm...Bob's Big Boy

We live in San Diego and don't have any more Bob's Big Boys...the only time we get to eat at Bob's Big Boy is when we drive through Barstow on our way to Vegas.

Most big chain companies have an area of their site where they have press releases to announce future opening locations.

Manners Big Boy

When I was growing up, there were Big Boy restaurants all through Cleveland, the franchise was Manners Big Boy. It seems they have all but left Ohio except for a smattering of them around the state with one still in Cleveland.
First the Manners all closed, then a few reopened as Big Boy and have since closed. I have the feeling the McDonalds Big Mac did in the Big boy restaurants. Even though the BigBoy sandwich is the better of the two hands down.

New Big Boys

BigBoy.com is a little slow getting info up. I'd be happy to help a little more since I manage all of the new & remodel construction for Big Boy...

Manner's Big Boy

Maybe a little explanation of the recent history of Big Boy will help. Through the early 90's, Big Boys were controlled by franchisees that had large regions such as Manner's in your area, Shoney's in the Mid-South, etc. Elias Brothers (the franchisee for Michigan) began bought out most of the other franchisees. However, they found that they had over-extended themselves financially when they discovered how much remodeling was needed in the other franchisees restaurants.

Subsequently in 2001, Elias Brothers went bankrupt and in the process, many of the Big Boys closed. Right after the bankruptcy, a private investor bought the company and re-established the Big Boy franchise. This new franchise controls Big Boy in the US and internationally - except for Frisch's Big Boy in Ohio which was one of the original regional franchisees and continues to operatate separately.

Notice that I said internationally as there are over 100 Big Boys in Japan...

Hope this helps, and I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

Team up;)

bob's vs manners big boy

Hello all, I live in Los Angeles Ca. and am a big fan of Bobs, I travel for work a lot and now I find myself in Detroit Mi. for 5 months, Lots of Big Boys here, They don't call them Bob's though. Just Big boys, The use a different sauce here too. Like thousand Island, In Ca. the use a red hamburger relish, and in Ohio I am told the use tarter sauce, I am road tripping tomorrow and will test that out, The Ca. relish is a fav. of mine, I wish all big boys offered a choice, I understand here in Mi. you can order Ohio style, But I want to wait until I get to Ohio to try that. I will try to update,

Is the Bob's in Moreno

Is the Bob's in Moreno Valley going to be close to the Auto Mall?

Moreno Valley Location

Yes, it's close to the auto mall. It's near (20 ft or so) the Visterra Credit Union branch in the Target Center (or whatever they call that mall).

Bob's Moreno Valley

Bob's MV is open! It's next to Round Table Pizza.

Bob's Big Boy Locations

Guess I need to update the file...

Done!

Missing Bob's Big Boy

I have not visited a Bob's Big Boy in years. I do not think NY has any.
