Garmin nuvi 265W

Hi Folks,
I have an old Garmin nuvi 265w. It has its original lifetime map but it is 2010th year. Can somebody help or tell me where to download NA maps. I`ve update software version to the latest 7.8 through Garmin Express. It also shows me map update available but it costs about $95 and it doesnt show what version/year it is?
Any response many appreciated.
TIA

nuvi 265W

The nuvi 265W didn't have a lifetime map subscription when it was purchased new (Garmin didn't offer bundled lifetime maps at that time). So in order for it to have a lifetime map subscription, you or someone else would have had to purchase that subscription separately sometime after 2009 when Garmin started offering the subscription as an add-on. Assuming that is the case for your 265W, the other problem you may be running into is the Garmin update policy that states the device must be updated at least once every two years. We have never been certain that Garmin actively enforces that policy and some members have reported that they have updated maps on devices that were dormant for more than two years. But 2010 is a long time ago so if your 265W had a lifetime map subscription, it seems probable that it has been terminated. One thing you could do is log into your MyGarmin account and see if a lifetime subscription is shown for the device. If you have proof that a subsription was purchased for it, you could try calling Garmin support to see if they would be willing to reactivate it.

hi @alandb,
THanks for your response.

In fact I have anothoer same model that I`ve already update through Garmin Express, that`s strange, but for that device doesnt appear the option for map update, only the software update that Ive already done.

I`m wondering if there is any option to update manually through a SD card, by copying the map files on it

Any thought very appreciated.

TIA

Nope

As “alanb” already indicated, the only way to update maps on a 265 is by a paid subscription. You can update things like firmware, voices, time zone updates, etc. at no charge and these (if available) will be indicated in Garmin Express. As best I recall, Garmin Express will also prompt you about a map update, and give you the pricing options.

You will need an SD card as well, no less than 8GB and a maximum of 32GB.
