Nuvi 680 - MSN Receiver Not Working

 

I recently experienced an odd problem with my Nuvi 680 where the Nuvi does not connect with the MSN receiver - I get a message "Connecting to the MSN reciever", but the Nuvi never does connect. I've tried resetting both the Nuvi and the MSN receiver, and tried a new MSN receiver/power cord. I've also uploaded the latest software from Garmin.

Since I use it almost every day I'm not real excited about sending the Nuvi back to Garmin and waiting a couple of weeks. Anybody have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Call MSN

Call TS at MSN. But I warn you talking to them has not been a treat. They clearly are not "Garmin" in their TS department. I wish they would look at and learn from Garmin!

There is an update

In reading another thread here, Garmin has issued an update that (according to other users) has resolved the inability to connect issue. In fact, it has reportedly improved the data reception rate.

Try doing a webupdater for your 680 and see if that fixes it.

Installed the Update

I sent an email to tech service at both Garmin and MSN Direct. Garmin tech is telling me I need to send the Nuvi in - and it will be about a 2 week turnaround...
