I have it on good authority that the Garmin nuvi 660 was given CR's top rating.

Do I get any extra points for having a 650?

Some Best Buys

The Magellan RoadMate 2000 was rated a Best Buy as were the TomTom One and the Garmin Street Pilot c330. wink

Garmin 660

The big flaw with 660, and I guess any device that uses similar scheme, is the feature of using porting Karen's voice, MP3s, audio books to car's speakers via FM signal. It can work, if you happen to have a clear station available (e.g., 88.1) for the Garmin to transmit on. But if you happen to be in a moving vehicle (often the case when you're driving), you'll find yourself with bad reception pretty quickly. Also, if you tie up your car's FM radio with the Garmin, you cannot simultaneously listen to NPR (or whatever). You can change back to unit-based audio pretty quickly, but it gets really old, really fast if you need to do it often. This all makes a difference because unit-based audio is just too poor quality for Bluetooth-based handsfree calls from your cellphone. I wish they could design a unit that allowed the use of FM broadcast, but switched to the "Garmin channel" automatically.

Garmin nüvi® 660, iPhone 8gb (Technology is not the solution. It's only a tool to help you achieve it.)
