Red Light Cameras for Garmin C340

Hello, I am new to this. I have a Garmin C340. Can you tell me if I can download red light cameras and how this works on my unit?

Thanks

Yes, you can

The c340 can accept the redlight camera file with no trouble. You'll need to purchase a POI-Factory subscription to access the redlight camera POI file. Click in the "getting started" section above to actually get started. You'll need to download Garmin's POI Loader software (very easy to do) in your Garmin folder and once you've done that, you should be ready to go. Create a folder on your computer called POI Files. When you are ready to download the redlight and speed camera files (or any other POI file you may find of interest), that's the folder you'll save them to. Assuming you've loaded your Garmin USB driver, and after you've loaded the Garmin POI Loader software, the next time you plug your unit into your computer the POI Loader should start up and ask you where the files are you want to load. Select the correct directory and auto load and the POI's will load to your c340.

Once the POI's are loaded on your unit, you will hear a chime when you get within the proximity established (around 1900 feet, I think) and a red bar will display at the top of your screen with the warning "Red Light Camera" or "Speed Camera." There is no voice alert since the c340 is not equipped with an MP3 capability. I listen for the single chime on my c340...it's hard not to hear it. Make sure your proximity alert is "ON."

That's about it in a nutshell. There's more detail on how to set up for downloading and transferring POI's. You just need to look around the site and search for "loading POI's."

Have fun!

Look up at the top of the page, select "red light cameras" tab. There you should find all the information you need. Once it's downloaded and you have the POI Loader from the Garmin website and the file is loaded to your unit, it will give you a warning as you approach the area of a redlight camera that's in the file. Do a search in the box above for other information you are interested in, read, read, read. Then if you can't find the answer plenty of folks here will jump in. Welcome to the site...
