I like using Garmin OpenFietsMap Full from BBBike.org. Until now, I have simply used maps from area near my residence. However, my wife and I are now traveling more and I would like to download the entire United States. The maximum size is 1500 MB, so I will need to download several different sections to get the entire continental United States.
The website does allow the polygon to be moved, resized or extended. You can move the map to a desired location and then click to create a bounding box.
One thought I had is to use the same areas that Open Map Chest uses:
Northeast: Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia
Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin
UPDATE: I didn't realize this until this morning, but the following regions are already available. These can be directly downloaded without needing to wait for an email.
NOTE: Which states are in which regions might NOT be the same for each, however.

South: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas
I think my real challenge will be lining us the bounding box along state lines to make this work.
If anybody here has experience with this sort of thing, I would love to hear any tips you have.
