Visual route numbers on the 350?

Am I missing something on my 350?

While driving down a particular road I see off to my left a rather large road indicated on screen but the map shows NO route number or name associated with that road. Just a nice fat red line. Why is that? I would think the map should visually show "route 72" or "interstate 81" on the map (just like paper maps) should I be interested in knowing what that mystery road off to my left is. Is this normal or is there a setting I'm missing in the preferences?

No big deal really, I would just find it usefull for no other reason then curiosity.
