Microphone in old 245w that has no function?

Is it possible that your 245W has voice command? If so, I'd expect that your device's Settings would have a section for Voice Command including customizing the wakeup command.

Yes that’s so strange, I just can’t seem to find any proper information. I have looked around the settings and all other options on the 245 but there are no voice command function. It’s basically identical to the 205 one, no bluetooth capability, no voice command capabilities and no extra features.

Hi! I looked at them, but the 245w has no headphone jack either. I will see if I can figure out how to post a picture of it.

I’m thinking the 245w was a version sold in the UK, perhaps exclusively. If you go to eBay there are.a few units listed and pretty much all are located in the UK. Close examination of the images seem to show a port like the OP’s unit. Examine in particular the offering at https://www.ebay.com/itm/317480601701

Could your unit have come from the UK or perhaps Canada (which eBay shows with the port)? And without a specific 245w manual we probably can only speculate.

There could be a possibility that it originated from UK or Canada, like if someone purchased it from eBay or so. It would be interesting to know where it originally came from but I don’t think there is any way to find out.

The manula I found online and I expect you did too, is for the entire nuvi 2x5 series and they all may use the same outer shell. If so, the opening for a microphone may be there for use with the higher 2x5 models that included Bluetooth. Just a guess

I have two 265WT’s which may have that microphone for Bluetooth. I know the GPS supports Bluetooth. Online pictures show it but I just had a knee replaced and don’t particularly care about getting it from the car.

According to Garmin’s website and the Quick Start Guide for the 245w that port is likely the bluetooth microphone.
