Help, Garmin 2797 not recognized !

I'm at my wits end. No matter what I try in 2 different laptops with 3 USB ports each my Garmin 2797 is not recognized. It does not show in "File Explorer" or in "Computer Management". The 2797 is set for "MTP". I have tried every USB-A to micro USB cable I have including one with a Garmin sticker on it. I have tried each cable connected to the GPS even by shutting down and rebooting. The newest version of Garmin Express v.7.24 also cannot see it!
This leads me to think the problem must lie with Garmin!
The only thing I can see is that this GPS is mounted to a bracket on the back which can unclip from the back of the GPS and has connecting pins on it similar to what the old Nuvi 850 used to have, I wonder if these pins are the problem?
Any thoughts? Suggestions?

If I understand your post correctly, you are connecting through the micro USB port on the mount rather than the mini usb port on the chassis of the device. I would try using a mini usb cable and connect directly to the device rather than going through the mount. It may not help, but it is worth a try.

Thanks
Thx alanb I totally forgot about the mini port on the GPS, slap my head for my forgetfulness. But even getting another cable with the mini port does not make it work. I have more cables like that so will try them all
to see if one works.
The GPS screen now shows the COMPUTER icon which should indicate it is connected. But it is not, does not show in File Explorer or in Computer Management and GE does not see it either.

I think the problem is you
I think the problem is you are in the wrong mode on the GPS. I don't remember how to change modes, but you can probably search for it.

Maybe…
I note you mention multiple laptops. For one thing make sure the laptops are powered up and not operating off battery. Do not use any form of hub. Also, you might want to go into device manager and make sure “Selective Suspend” is disabled. This is a feature that turns off the power to USB ports in an effort to extend battery life.

Try mass storage mode
Windows often doesn't work well with mtp devices, try switching it to mass storage mode

Followed up on all the suggestions offered and all is well now. But having said that, I did have an unusual happening on my newer laptop. It did NOT recognize the Garmin as a F: drive or any other letter drive but it showed up as a folder (Nuvi 2797) instead. So I decided to revert back to my older laptop and it was recognized as another drive and apparently Garmin Express also recognizes the 16 GB memory card since it currently is installing the 2025.2 map version.
Once again POI members are a helpful bunch.
