Cows Do Eat Beans

Cows eat soybeans and soybeans are beans in the legume plant family. Other foods in the legume family are navy, kidney, string, black, and pinto beans. Also chickpeas (garbanzo beans), lentils, peas, carob, licorice, and peanuts.

Soybeans can be ground, together with grains as corn and wheat, and fed to cows as a dry feed. Soybean plants can also be chopped in the green state and stored in silos as silage. Green silage undergoes fermentation in silos and becomes "pickled". Silage can be fed to cattle, sheep, and other such ruminants (cud-chewing animals).

I know this information from experience as a kid raised on a farm.

Kudos!

Congratulations, Dh5379! Keep up the good work!

I spent my childhood on a farm, but I didn’t know some of that. By the way, congrats to Dh5379. Enjoy your week in the pasture!
