I retired at age 64; took a year and a half off, got bored and worked the summer at Kings Island. Finished doing that in November and went to work the following February for Meals on Wheels. After doing that for 4 and a half years, and working for an idiotic boss that they hired after the first one left, I decided I had enough and quit. I probably would still be there if it wasn’t for her. Anyway, I didn’t need the money but just wanted something to do. I finally retired at 71.

christmas was a fun night we were all having a good time when one of our friends passed out at the dinner table and we had to call 911 and the responders hauled him off they said his pacemaker went out of wack! he brought 2 others with him to our house one has dementia the other had a stroke years ago . we had about 12 people at the party. my wife was going nut trying about how and where we were going to get some of these people home

It's been a real crazy year for me too. Without going into a long story, I'll just say that the year was not going well already and then about 8 weeks ago it got even worse. Much worse. And the reason behind it had nothing to do with me.

I'm sleeping soundly in bed at 5 a.m. when I am awakened suddenly. By an alarm clock? No. By cute little birdies chirping? No.

By multiple bullets crashing through my bedroom window, spraying glass on me, a few of them missing my head by about two feet. Two of the bullets ricocheted and left bruises on my arm.

Luckily I managed to survive that nightmare, but I've decided to move elsewhere. Just haven't decided where yet. I'm not made of money, so my options are limited. But anyway, I'm just thankful to be alive.

Here's hoping 2024 is a bit kinder to us all.

Mesothelioma

On Dec 1st I had the cancerous lining on my lung removed. After 3 days in a step down unit I was put into a regular ward. I won’t bore you with more details but after 13 days in the hospital I am now in a respite home. relearning to walk with a 4 wheel walker. It is a bit of a painful time but hopefully it too shall pass.
