TUCSON AZ - The city of Tucson says it will begin testing photo radar and red light cameras next week.

The city is the latest in the state to install photo radar and red light cameras in an effort to slow down drivers and prevent accidents.

City officials say they have signed a contract with American Traffic Solutions to install and operate eight red light cameras and one photo-radar speed enforcement van. The van will be deployed to school zones, known speeding areas and intersections with speeding issues.

Fines for running a red light in Tucson are $273, and speeding tickets start at $147 and can go up to $357.

New Cameras

I just saw on the news tonight that there are new cameras going up in Tucson. I'm not sure if they are red light cameras, speed cameras, or a combination of both. I heard that there are 10 new ones going up I think. Does anyone know anymore information on this? Are these locations already updated in the POI file for speeding and red light cameras?

They will start issuing warning tickets this week

The cameras have been up and operating for a while now and are already shown in the speed camera file on this site. They were not issuing tickets till they worked out some problems with the cameras. They will start issuing warning tickets this week and next week if you are 11 mph or more over they will start to issue the real tickets.
