Small town looking at red light and speed cameras

My home paper details discussions of city officials discussing the need for red light and speed cameras.

Hopefully they will place this on a ballot this fall, but with tax income shrinking. they would be a profit generator for the city, and some voters my think its a good idea.

My biggest problem is the company who install the systems get a large portion of the fines. If the city purchased the system and the company did not get a cut of the fines, I guess I would be for them, but not when it would make a profit for the installing company. Any thoughts?

So how do I go about

So how do I go about creating a privitized corporate police force in that we would go around and inforce laws and collect fines from the perpetrators?

I get an odd Orwellian feeling from this thought.

It could also make a cool movie!

Red light cams in small towns

Red light cams can be a good source of income, but if they lower the yellow like other towns did, that can be a source of danger for pedestrians and drivers. They (the drivers and pedestrians) have less time to cross the street and some drivers step on the pedal to clear the intersection which can be dangerous for the residents of any town.
The quest for revenue is given a rise of discomfort for the tax paying residents, because there is never enough money collected and local taxes are going up anyway. Waist and secret handshakes many times lead to the rise of taxes.
The company that is going to manage the red light cams are capitalizing on the law and taking a large ( some times 50% ) portion of the price of the ticket, but if the revenue from tickets are lower they lower the time yellow light stays on or they leave.
Other reason towns install red lights is to guarantee the pension, and fat contracts to their friends.

Gps! ask where to go and get there! Best of all, what we need is to have accurate pois to reach all destinations
