Re: POI Loader 2.4.2 UPGRADE Software...

It should be noted that this POI Loader upgrade, is for the "Windows" operating system only.

From the Garmin website:

System requirements:
IBM-compatible PC running Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system and an available USB port.
---

We can only hope that there will be a similar POI Loader upgrade, for the for the Macintosh operating system..."soon".

New POI Loader

Just downloaded the new version of POI Loader and it seems to work just fine (Windows version running on windows XP Media).

Also, updated all my files downloading the latest version of Wal Mart and Hawaii attractions.

Thanks to all that help out here. I use the various files found on this web site almost daily and really enjoy being part of this group.

Officer I'm sorry I was going the wrong way on that one-way street but my GPS told me to turn left ... Oh, I'm still getting a ticket, okay then the GPS will see ya in court!

Re: POI Loader 2.4.2 UPGRADE Software

Please see this thread: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/5158

New POI loader featiresw

According to the notes, They have "Added support for subcategories of POI?s" Does this mean we can have POI arranged in something like My POI/Restaurants/Ind Restaurant folder and on the Garmin GPS it will show Restaurants then the Ind restaurants under a restaurant heading. Before one could not have a third level of folders so if one wanted to group sound and BMP files with POI csv file, one could not have that listing under a category. Can someone who has tried the new POI loader comment on this?

Speak Swedish

Before you get all excited about a new version of POI Loader, below is the main fix that v2.4.2 includes. From the Garmin download website. If you don't speak Swedish, don't bother to upgarde to 2.4.2.

"This version of the installer fixes a Swedish language install problem with the previous version of the 2.3.2 installer. You do not need to download this version if you are not using the Swedish version of POI Loader for Windows."

Yea I found that out when I went to down load it! The post combines all of the upgrade notes as if they were under just the latest upgrade when they are not.

BTW, Side note, I think a IPOD might be a better way to go than a GPS/MP3 for the money right now!

MP3 for the voice

I would like a GPS with MP3 capability so I can get voice alerts from POIs that I load. Can't get those with the c340. Next time.
