See:

For the new v31.00 map:

-Improved time zone borders

-Updated DST for some areas and countries

-Updated Europe/Kiev time zone name to Europe/Kyiv

I understand the need for

I understand the need for time zones, buts still looking forward to the day we no longer have to change clocks twice a year.

Update seems a bit buggy...

I updated my nuvi 2689 early this AM when I first opened this thread. With the same device connected I opened GE and it again told me the time zone update was available and a software update was also available. I did both, although the before and after seem the same, but the "need" as indicated by GE doesn't seem to have cleared. Every time I open GE, I get the same message that the two updates are needed.

After three times of doing this, GE seems to know that my updates are current. Perhaps delay at the Garmin server?

ADDED INFO Two other devices were updated without any glitches but I waited about 5 minutes before double checking. So likely something at Garmin's end that needs to be updated to show appropriate device status.

I agree if it means sticking with standard time. It's just wrong for me to imagine permanent Daylight Saving.

Let businesses adjust their opening and closing times if they wish to but keep things Standard. Galileo, Kepler, Brahe and others would be happy.

Don't make DST permanent

I agree with you. I live in Northeast Ohio, and if we stayed on Standard time, yeah, it wouldn't get dark until about 6 p.m. which would be okay. But on the downside, it wouldn't get light in the morning until almost 9 a.m., and for me that's something I don't think I'd care for.
