Wonder if this is worth updating?

It depends

If you travel in and use the GPS in areas where the map, speed limits, school zones, etc. have been updated, then it's worth it if you want the best results.

Otherwise, no.

But be sure to update the map at least as often as needed to maintain the ability to do a future map update in accordance with Garmin's "useful life" requirement.

"Useful life" requirement...

"Useful life" requirement... At least once every 24 months IIRC.

Great, Thanks. Will update

Great, Thanks. Will update

thanks for reminder

I still have to update

Thanks! Will update today

Thanks! Will update today since I haven't done it in awhile.

Now..

I have high speed internet service and can download a map update in 15 minutes! It used to take 5 hours or more with my old DSL connection. I used to let it download overnight to avoid slowing internet access during the day. Consequently, I only updated every 2 years or so.

Thank you

Thank you

Why?

Just curious. Since it's so easy for you now to update your maps, why not update them as newer ones become available? Speaking for myself, I've never had a problem with new maps in the 15 years I've had a gps.

Poorly Worded

My comment was poorly worded.

With the new high speed internet service, I will now do map updates as soon as they are released.

I used to do the updates every couple of years due to the old DSL internet service.

The DSL line has been disconnected and good riddance!

Thanks.....

this is helpful information.
