School Zone Alerts

Not sure how you could delete the school zone file. Try Simulating a Route on the Automotive Device to a area you know that has a school zone. Then you will know for sure. School zone alerts are built into the speed limit within the map itself.

When I try simulating with the POI factory zones I have know problem, when I remove them from device I get know alerts. I just found schools by doing the following. Tap Where To > Categories > Everyday Life > Schools. I tap on schools and a load of schools come up near me. but it seems like they are just there for me to tap on them for directions. No Alerts at all.

Categories > Everyday Life > Schools are the built in internal poi's.Just like Restaurants,lodging and etc with no alerts. You are correct, you can tap on them and get routed to that location. These are not the same as the custom pois we make with alerts and icons(bmp).

The 2797 comes with school zone alerts built into the mapping of the device. I would suggest deleting your custom school zones you downloaded from POI Factory . To many things going at the same time.

Now back to the simulating a route. Using the FAQ I referred you to. Simulate a route starting from point A to a location past a school zone location close to you. Alert should sound. mentions proximity alerts on page 13 including the type of alert and which alerts will be played, plus resetting alerts. Is there anything there of help? (I don't have a 2797 so can't try it myself or even see what options exist.)

Are you just missing the alert audio or are you also missing a banner display? What do you see for a speed limit? Does the speed limit change when entering a school zone?

The 2797 may respond like my 3597 so be sure to check for effects during school hours:

...driving through one on a school day during school hours gives a visual and audio alert and the nuvi speed limit is lowered to the school zone speed limit; driving through one on a school day before or after school hours results in the same alerts but without the speed limit change; and on weekends, no alert occurs at all.

Audio setting, Alerts near proximity points = single tone, continuous and off.
Alert, Types of alerts =Custom POIS. Check or un-check.

This setting has been around a long time. For 3597 it is covered on page 13 in the manual.

Just for info. Set off for audio and unchecked custom pois to see if I would still get a alert. Run simulation for school zone. No ding for sound when approaching. The school name still came up on top of the screen.

I have school zones working now, I deleted the The school POIs and it now works. Thank You.

Is there away to install a banner when you come up to redlight Cams.
I just checked out my old 660 that the banner lights up in red
