Symbols not transferring to device

I was able to change symbols (pictures) on basecamp for my route. When I transferred my route onto my Garmin Drivesmart 65 it did not copy over my symbols. What is the most effective way of doing this without manually creating separate files for each POI. Does anybody have a good process for this?
Essentially I added symbols for different gas stations along the way and transferred the routing file, and pois, from basecamp to my Garmin. This did not copy over the customer symbols.

Do you have a POI file with the graphics loaded into the GPS? It may be the unit itself needs the graphics loaded through POILoader in order to display them. It could be cumbersome as you would need a separate file for each graphic i.e. Chevron with Chevron.jpg in the folder.

I ran into that problem with the 65 and 55. You cannot change the green symbols on the unit for Favorites.. You nay be able to do that with the POI file for POIs. I do know that the Blue Dot icon shows for the Rest Area files. But there than the Speed and Red-light fills, that's all I use.

For favourites you're stuck with what's provided, POI icons can be whatever you want.

So once I add them to my device. Can I make a route that shows their symbol(.bmp file)? So say I have a 20 stop route, that i make in basecamp, will they show up on my Garmin as the BMP files as I make the stops or will they show up as orange flags?

It should. (Grain of salt here). I would make that .bmp the symbol in Bascamp for those waypoints you are using.
