POI Question (Starbucks in GPX format)

WHERE DO I FIND POI FOR STARBUCKS IN GPX FORMAT ?
I ONLY SEE IT HERE IN EXCEL

It is only available

in CVS format. Not all files are available in GPX. This is one of them.

If you're at all familiar with the Extra POI Editor (EPE), it should take you about one minute to create the .GPX equivalent of the .csv file.

GPS

GPS Visualizer

GPSBabel

Both work well. GPS Visualizer works online and Babel is a download.

@budgen

Just wondering.

Why do you need the file in .GPX format? POILoader will happily use the .CSV file you can download for POI Factory.

Is there something else going on?

I don't have Excel so

I don't have Excel so wondered how to get these poi's onto my armin Zumo

You do not

need Excel to import the file into POI loader. But you must be able to connect your GPS to your computer so that POI loader can find it and transfer the file.

POILoader

As Melaqueman indicated, you do not need Excel on your computer to use files from POIFactory.

Download any POIFactory file to a "directory" on your computer. Fire up POILoader with your Zumo attached to your computer, point POILoader to the "directory", and let POILoader create the .gpi file on the device.

POI Loader

Definitely use POI Loader to install csv or gps files to your Garmin GPS:

Do not copy any csv or gpx file to a Garmin device as that will create all sorts of issues you do not want to have happen.

day when I was young and stupid, now just not young anymore, when I owned a Nuvi 350 I did just that. Copied a GPX file into the Nuvi. Where? I don't remember. Nothing untoward happened and it certainly did not read the GPX file either.

Of course over the years I've been a member here I learned a lot. Still not young anymore either.

I think a custom POI file in gpx form copied to a Garmin device creates a Saved (or Favorite, depending on the vintage of the device) for each location in the gpx and with a limit of 1000 saved places, that could create an issue. Also, I think I remember that the older Garmin devices did not have a way to do a mass deletion of Saved locations. It's been a while so maybe my memory of the issues isn't exactly as I've stated.

CraigW

I do not remember how I would have even have created a GPX file 15 - 16 years ago. But regardless what I tried to make was a route for my 350. Of course I now know the 350 was not capable of routings.

Though I cheated back then and made a destination point and many vias in between, so indirectly a route.
