Garmin 2598 traffic issue: "a file required for traffic is missing"

I've heard of this before and I believe the only solution is to contact Garmin for the file

Is it possible that in the GPS setting someone tried to activate a PAID traffic program as the file name may suggest?

Because there is none, hence the error message?

I have tried to contact with Garmin. They said they don't have software support team anymore. When I asked them for the file: "UnitID_Traffic_Pay_Table_Fix.zip", they even don't have any idea about this file. BTW, can anyone provide this file so I can try it? thanks.

My device has an embedded traffic service chip, so I think it should be activated automatically.

Has the GPS ever been in an area where traffic info is available? Have you activated the traffic feature in Settings?

I am going by memory because I can't find any thread where I saw this, but I may have seen it on a Garmin screen in my nuvi 3597.

The theory is that a traffic update may have been loaded into the GPS by Garmin Express during a routine update. It is ready to be installed, but it will not be installed and active until the Traffic feature is activated in Settings and the GPS is receiving traffic info. For FM traffic, it may need to be connected and receiving traffic for a long time, perhaps 10 minutes.

An alternative way to make the "a file required for traffic is missing" nag go away might be to deactivate the traffic feature in Settings, if you never use traffic.

Actually, I don't care about traffic information since I only need GPS navigation. The error info "a file required for traffic is missing" comes every time when I start my car no matter whether the traffic feature is activated or not. I believe at that moment the device has not gotten enough information to update the traffic information. The weird thing is that this error info goes away only when I use the device without external power. Once I connect it to my car, this annoying info comes again.

I tried to contact with Garmin support. They offered me a different refurbished device with half of the price. However, this is unacceptable since their Garmin Express upgrading made my device goes wrong.
