Has anyone here ever gotten a speed or rlc ticket?

I have in 2002, and I didn't even know they existed.

My hunch is the % on this forum is < .01

I have always wanted to find a case where someone was wrongfully ticketed, other than the obvious, where a stationary vehicle got a ticket, or 100% of people got a ticket, i.e. malfunction. Never have seen one and I've been here a long time...still curious

Surely you jest. Nothing like ten seconds.

Stepping away from the cameras to ordinary enforcement, I got a deserved red light violation the conventional way in California about 35 years ago. I went to shame school for a day to avoid license points. The instructor advised us that it is was common practice for officers trying to judge whether a fast "just barely" stop had actually reached full stop to look for the little twitch on the car body when the brakes grab to final stop.

Of course those who do a truly gentle stop with proper fading of the brake at the last moment don't get the twitch, but I don't think they excite the attention of the officers, either.

Daughter got a ticket for not stopping and turning right where a RLC was located. I talked with her and she said she absolutely stopped and then proceeded to turn right.
We looked up the video on the web page and it showed her blasting around the corner at about 15 to 20 MPH.
LOL busted!!!
I personally can't stand the RLC tax machines!!

You be surprised how many people do not come to a FULL stop as required by law ! The wheels must come to a FULL stop for about 10 seconds. Serves them right to get ticketed for not stopping !

As for RLC tax machine, if you obey the law and stop you have nothing to fear, do you !!!!!

spent a week on Toronto, there were quite a few rlcs that were not on Cyclops nor poi. Could not grab them as the penalty for distracted driving is severe (memory would have been the only way to identify, and I got one). I highly doubt it's even possible to have gotten a violation. One time at University, the light turned red on me while trying to turn left. Again, it is impossible (not possible) to produce a photo or video of my vehicle behind the line, when the light turned red. Again, I think this is becoming a very non-issue. Nobody in 10 years has been able to establish, "I went through the light on green, but a pic and video showed me going through on red! I got a wrongful ticket!" So much for the money grab theory lol

Again that is not to say complete malfunctions such as stopped vehicles getting violations. But 100% that's going to be as a whole dropped.

One would think maybe a person would say, "Well I was in a funeral procession, we all got ticketed, and the city would not waive the fee, what a money grab!" But in 10 years, never happened.

It is my understanding that even though there is a cautionary sign posted at a RLC intersection that there may not be a camera in operation. They move them around from one location to another so you never know if it's "manned?"

Toronto, there seems to always be 4 signs, but a camera only in one direction. Not sure if there is ever a sign, but no camera. However, they publish the locations...

Toronto

They've been adding and moving the RLC's in Toronto for the last couple of weeks. I've been updating that area every week and will continue to do so until it seems stable, I'm guessing there's a push by the city to get it done before the school year starts.

Toronto RLC's

Angela I believe the reason is that they have loacations for the RLC's but do NOT have a camera for every location, so they move them around every once in a while and no one except they know which are live locations.

Maybe if I have the time I will check out a few locations nearby and observe if I see a telltale flash. There certainly is no shortage of red light runners here!!!

In fact just a couple of days ago while I was waiting for my green someone drove, not crawled right into the middle of the intersection on a red light and then reversed to the stop line.

The boxes look so old? They literally look like the 1st gen going back to like 2002?

And they are permanent housings, so does this mean they leave them with nothing inside of them? And I don't get why they don't cover all 4 directions, just one, yet have signs for all 4...
