Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – April 2018

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

The weather was gorgeous! Sunny blue skies, warm weather. Island Pond was cold though. Almost went for a swim... Almost! Seven miles on a moderate trail with a couple of friends. Can't wait to get back out there!

E TN to NW OH and Back

Made our standard trip to see my Mother, don't really need the GPS accept to see how we are doing against our schedule.

Made good time up and was within 10 minutes of the arrival time estimated when we pulled out of the driveway even with lots of pit stops. On the way back we actually made it with 5 minutes to spare, less traffic on Saturday than Tuesday.

Dude! I second that!

Back to my usual routine

WalMart and eat out, Sams and eat out (all fast food of course) and look at trucks to buy on Sunday when the salesmen are not there. Just normal. It is so nice to get back to the quiet days of our lives.

rv 660

I have returned mine, I set up my RV on it and man it goes wild. I used it with my car to get used to it... It wants to keep you on the hwy where you do not need a fancy RV GPS. I drove through a low bridge without any warning, through a tunnel where I was not allowed with the size of propane tank I have.... the routing was completely ridiculous.... take the long way home.

Local Trip

Tried something new. I have Garmins in both of our everyday vehicles and on occasions grabbed one of those when I drive my 1950 Ford F1 truck. This time I thought I would try Apple maps on my iPhone. Worked well accept in a noise truck and the phone in my pocket I missed a few turns and took awhile to get where I was going. So I hooked up a bluetooth receiver in the truck so the iPhone would work through the speaker. Took another trip a few days later in the F1 and even though I knew where I was going I used the iPhone with the Bluetooth adapter to see how it would work. Worked great and will be my new GPS for my old truck with the bonus that I can listen to tunes off the iPhone at the same time.

Driving around NYC and Greenwich CT

Went back east to visit relatives. Used my GPS to navigate from airport to their house.

Last summer I went to

Last summer I went to Soldier Stone in Colorado. On the way back I decided to drop down to Texas to visit a friend. He lives near Tyler and every routing program I had tried to take me through Dallas to get there. Forget that.

I used the Avoid Area on the Garmin to set the whole outer circle around Dallas off limits. Comparing travel times, it cut 45 minutes of time off my trip. Plus, NO TRAFFIC!!!
