Map update 2019.10 successful but "Recently found" partially Chinese characters

Model 265WT upgraded to map update 2019.10 without incident but "Recently found" list is partially Chinese (or similar) characters. Is a hard reset the only way to possibly fix the issue?

Here's an earlier discussion that may help

Check your nuvi's selected Keyboard language and other language selections and see if it helps if you switch all to English.

Switching languages didn't help so I just blew away all my "recently found" locations. That just means I'll have to revisit of find all new restaurants in Charleston SC. Actually that isn't too bad - Charleston rocks for foodies!

Unless I'm wrong, recently found items should be in your favourites. Deleting recently found items won't remove them from favourites.

Don't

Don't think Recently found end up in favorites unless you save them.

Non-latin characters

Updated to 2019.10 last week and now I get an occasional non standard character in a POI. Tried hard reset and changing away from EN keyboard but still getting oddball characters. I'm using a custom map color but haven't seen this until 2019.10. Any other ideas?
