GE load map to computer & unit

When loading map with GE, how can I load the map to the computer and the Garmin GPS?

I was downloading 2019.10 last night and couldn't figure it. I used Map Updater instead and it's dead easy to do with MU. Just click on options and it's there.

Same ...

With GE it's just as easy, click on installation options and it's there wink

Much appreciated. I will save this file location, for the next time I download a map.

they kind of hide it

I maintain a small MS Word document to remind me of the exact sequence I use for each map update. Without the reminder from that doc, I'd have trouble remembering the need to go down a level and click that option.

The same doc reminds me just where their backup option is, and a couple of other details.

Good idea.

Good idea. Glad I'm not the only one that needs a reminder.

Simple .txt file with location of .doc file written in it should solve this problem smile

Then you have to find the .txt file location. Hmm

Just what I was thinking, but seriously just create a shortcut on your desktop for the file!

Something I've always done when downloading ANY program, not just the GPS updates, is always open "options" if there is such a thing, I want to see what exactly is being downloaded. This habit helped me to find what you point to on my own the first time I used GE.

in some cases let's you stop software to be installed which you really do not want on your computer. Then unless you use a specialized program to delete this program you may be stuck with it. Some come without a delete function and with some Windows cannot remove it.
Just my $ 0.02 worth

That's exactly why I go the options route when downloading any software, a lot of the time they also want to download a so called helpful toolbar or some such nonsense, this is especially true with freeware.
