Adding POI to Drive 60 LMT

OK, just upgraded from a Nuvi1350 to Drive 60 LMT.(Canada & US maps)
I did find out how to transfer saved locations to new unit using Garmin Express. But not sure if I can add my old or any POI's as I don't see a fold like "EXTRAS" on the older unit.

Thanks

Your new unit

Your new unit may need to have its operating mode switched. If you can't see any folders it is in the wrong mode. In any event you can usually just copy the GPI file to any location in the new unit and it would be read. It's been my experience on older units.

1.To change your device from MTP to Mass Storage see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/41416 .

2.To get the Custom POI'S to your unit just connect the new 60 LMT to your computer and run POI Loader like you did for the 1350 for the custom POIS on your computer. You could also go to the POI folder on the 1350 and copy the GPI file in it. Then paste the copy in the POI folder on the 60 LMT.

OK, when I connect my Drive

OK, when I connect my Drive 60 to the computer & look at it in Windows Explorer I see it first as MASS STORAGE. I did get my saved locations over to new unit, but just don't see in short cuts a fold/short cut called Extra like old one.

Well ...

All the new units store POIs in a folder named POI. POI Editor will create that folder if it's not already there.

Or are you talking about an Extras folder on your device? You can add shortcuts to various items and folders by doing a Where to and then tapping the Personalise icon

This short video shows the files on my Nuvi 2597. It should also be noted my computer is set to show hidden folders http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39185 and that is why you see the system files. See https://youtu.be/7tW7oiV3CrQ for the POI Folder.

On older units the Custom POIs could be viewed on the GPS in "Where to?/ Extras/ Custom POIs." Menus for the newer units are different, but the Custom POIs can still be viewed.

There is one thing in common for the older and newer GPSs - if POI Loader has never been run and there are no Custom POIs on the GPS, the category such as "Extras " will not be visible.

For the Drive 60, after POI Loader is run and the POIs exist on the GPS, "Where to?/ Extras/ Custom POIs" or a similar category will then be visible.

If I remember right on my 3597, it is "Where to?/ Categories/ (page down) Custom POIs."

More info

On the Garmin support page to find your custom pois on ypur device.

How to find custom POIs/
Custom Points of Interest (POIs) are collections of points that you've loaded to a Garmin device using our POI Loader program. For more information about the free POI Loader program and custom POIs, click here.

To find installed custom POIs on your device:

Touch Where to?
Touch Categories
Scroll down to Other Categories
Touch Custom POIs
Touch the desired custom POI category (if applicable)
This should list the custom POIs you have sent to your device. If the POIs were not loaded successfully, this category will be titled Learn More.

You can also add, rearrange or remove shortcuts.I have my custom poi icon to come up after touching Where To. See https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/odsMH...

To move a shortcut icon, simply touch and hold on the icon then drag it to the desired location.
