Custom POI

Go to the FAQ and there is a post telling how to start and post a custom POI.

Good luck, also you may want to check the POI list to see if someone has already created a POI that you can use.

You can get alerts without going the Custom route but the alert will just be a small "ding." A custom audio alert can be whatever you want and may already be available here:

Custom icons are also nice. You can create your own bmp icon or choose one of the many available here:

I am wondering if anybody else has encountered this problem?

I have a nuvi 2689 with Map update 18.3, and have created a series of Custom Points with an icon in a file. These points are random distance from each other and on the same side of the road, and located at a distance so the icons will not over lap each other. I checked the the coordinates using Google map and Google earth and the coordinates are correct.

However, when I travel along the route only 1 icon of the 4 shows up on my GPS Map. I have also observed that a Circle with the Highway Number falls within the area of these points. All of my other Custom Point Icons seem to be displayed in other areas of the map.

Garmin Help had me changing some settings in my GPS, but as I had indicated above, "All of my other Custom Points (Icons) seem to be displayed in other areas of the map", so I do not think the problem has to do with the GPS settings.

I am wondering if the area around the Highway Number Symbol prevents the other points (icons) from being displayed?

I've been able to change the "alarm" to whatever sound file you desire. You'll need to load your POIs using POI Loader and set the proximity alert distance. Good luck.
