Made a trip to Atlantic City this week. We always go up the Eastern Shore & take the ferry or use the Delaware Memorial bridge. Originally, when I got my 660, Garmin routed me that way and that is the way I wanted to go. No "White Knuckle" driving on Route 13, Route 113 or Delaware Route 1. Note: I do not use routes or waypoints. The routing algorithms changed at some point and then the 660 wanted me to go up I-95. Along the way, Garmin would change it's mind in Hampton and finally show the Eastern Shore route.

1st problem - last map update turned on "Toll Avoidance" and I did not know it. 3597 kept trying to get me to do a U-turn to take I-95. Finally, after going thru the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, it shows the way I wanted to go. I finally realize that toll avoidance is on and turn it off.

2nd problem - I cannot figure out why Garmin wants me to use I-95. From my home, it's a longer route and traffic is ALWAYS terrible once you get near D.C. and/or Baltimore. I'm going to re-create my routes to avoid all the beeping and messages to do a u-turn and to get traffic reporting well ahead of current location.

Smartphone Link worked all the way up and back.

Had to go to a rural part of Oregon to purchase a used car for my father. Never been there before.

Celebrated my wife's aunt's birthday. She was born on Sept.3, 1917. Still lives alone, drives and is as sharp as a whip.

This morning, one of the gas stations that i stop at on the way to work was out of gas.

We took a short ride which we take often. The damage from Irma was really bad along the river. It was much worse south than north except for the road itself north of cocoa.

Trip to Toronto.

First camping of 2017

Taking a surface road to see a hair stylist about nine miles away. Took me "only" 25 minutes during rush hour. About half of my normal time on Interstate.

99 year old mother not doing well. Lots of family down.

Just drove from Chicago down to Orlando Florida. My Nuvi 3597 did a fine job going down but flubbed it big time on the return trip.

Going though Atlanta it took Me off the main North bound Interstate to an east bound Interstate and then had me reverse course back to the West to re enter the original Interstate and back on my way.

Going through Nashville it tried to do the same thing but I just ignored it and it finally corrected itself.

It surprised me because going South it worked flawlessly only messed up going North.

Were you using a traffic service (HD or Smartphone Link), and if so, do you have the Traffic/Optimize Route set to Automatic?

I once had this same thing happen to me going North through Atlanta and realized later that I had my 3597 set to allow automatic traffic rerouting. The traffic through Atlanta is always terrible, and I was never convinced that the alternate route was any better than if I had just stayed on I75. But I suppose there could have been an accident somewhere up ahead so maybe I would have been sorry if I had ignored the 3597. I was still using the HD traffic receiver at that time, but have since switched to Smartphone Link.

That is exactly what I had set from awhile ago and had forgotten I had set it. It all makes sense now. The Traffic through Atlanta was horrendous, and there was construction in Nashville.

I love this forum and the knowledge of the individuals that contribute. I was almost getting ready to dump my Nuvi 3597 as I could not figure out what was going on. Once again thanks for the fix I would never have found on my own.

No big trips this week.
