Garmin Red Light and Speed POIs

Hey all!
Quick question here, I have existing Trapster,Cyclops and other speed camera and red light camera POIs on my Nuvi from a few years ago..
With downloading the latest offerings on here, do I "need" to remove the old ones first?.. will leaving them on the unit cause multiple alerts?...or is it simply a redundancy issue?
Cheers!

The old file will be deleted

Assuming you use POILoader to load POI's, you'll be asked whether you want to delete the old file currently on your Garmin unit. And assuming you say "yes" the old POI file will be deleted and only the new one will be cataloged. If you happen to respond "No" to the query then you won't be allowed to put the new one out.

Hmmm...

Thanks for the reply, but as I was waiting I installed both the Speed and RL camera POIs via POI Loader as usual but I never clicked YES or NO and they all installed right along side of the aforementioned others.. nothing was deleted, only the new ones were installed.
Back to my initial questions, will having multiple Speed and RL POI files cause any issues?

Cheers again!

Yes, I think so

Yes, if multiple POIs are loaded with nearly identical data, I'd expect to hear and see multiple near-simultaneous alerts. In the worst case, near-simultaneous alerts could cause a conflict with the audio alert, especially if you've loaded a 1-2 second custom audio alert, or even crash and reboot the GPS device. Some of the older Garmin models like the nuvi 8x5 series was especially prone to crashes and reboots.

I'm somewhat confused on the deletion issue. If downloading a file to a folder that already has a file with the same filename, I expect the browser to give a warning or offer a default revised filename. And when running POI Loader, if sticking with the default file name (POI.gpi), you should have a popup warning that the GPS already has a file of that name and ask if you want to replace the GPS file with the newer one.

Thanks CraigW, this is what I was concerned about happening...I have three Trapster files and one Cyclops file each named as such...all of these files remained in the POI folder when I uploaded the newest files from this site using POI Loader which I found odd. Maybe I'll delete the lot of them and start fresh again with the newest from here.. don't want to run into crashes or conflicts with audio alerts.

Thanks for the help!

Trapster and Cyclops

Just to be complete, my experiences are only with the POI Factory's speed camera and redlight camera files. I have no experience with Trapster's or Garmin's Cyclops files and whether they have issues with updates, deletions, multipe files, etc.

It kept those files

because they are named differently. You will need to manually delete them.
And if the locations are close you will get multiple alerts.

Done

Deleted the Trapster and Cyclops files from the unit..(kept them in a folder on desktop just in case)
Should be good to go with the POIs from here.

Thanks again for the help!

Files

Trapster has been discontnued since 2014 in any case.

Cyclops is a Garmin subscription program at a yearly fee of US$ 34.99 It was included for a free trial in some Garmin GPS's in the past.

Yup,quite aware of all this thanks..the Cyclops file was had via file sharing, and the Trapster files remained very accurate up until I uploaded the newest files from here.
Never had any issues at all with the files despite their age.
